#internetflags is a series of flags whose manual production began on March 14, 2020, in artist Irma Marco’s domestic space, as a reaction to the lockdown experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic. It was born from the questioning of a digital communication model in which the constant display of intimacy on the Internet (extimacy) is increasingly present.

Successively, during the months of March, April and May, the artist hung flags on her balcony with different messages, promoting a reflection on barriers between different spheres: public and private, virtual and real, thought-out and simulated. The messages displayed are short texts, evocative phrases or simple questions about the digital world and the Internet.

These reflections were also present in the artist’s collaboration within the Creadors En Residència program, alongside 3rd-year secondary school (ESO) students from Institut Montjuïc and mediated by L’Afluent. From this experience emerged the project Hipperconnectatxs Z.F., in which flags were also a key element.
